Emergency Services.
Two options Civilians should investigate before traveling are personal medical coverage and Traveler's Insurance. Check your regular medical plan for what is covered and what is not. Most policies do not cover MEDEVAC and recommend civilians arrange for MEDEVAC insurance prior to departing home. Several carriers offer this coverage—ISOS (http://www.internationalsos.com/), AEA, Travel Guard, 1-800-826-1300, (http://www.travelguard.com/), etc. See the State Department website for more information: http://travel.state.gov/ Military and retired military with TRICARE Prime have MEDEVAC coverage, but should notify TRICARE they are departing for overseas travel. Travel Insurance is also an avenue civilians may want to check into. There are a variety of carriers, offering a variety of options, check the web for more information and find a plan that meets your individual needs.
